Pub Social in Cambridgeshire
Saturday, October 27th, 2007
Our first pub social was a nice mix of members, ex-members, friends and friendly locals. We weren’t exactly bursting out the door (come on other regions, we can do better…it’s fun and free!) but it seemed like a good time was had by all.
We were at the Queen’s Head in Newton, Cambridgeshire, after it was recommended by one of our members (who then didn’t show up – naughty, naughty!). A permanent fixture in the Good Beer Guide, this pub oozes personality and is an absolute must for anyone passing through the area. All beers are served straight from the barrel and the Broadside is pretty good. There’s no music and you get a ticking off if you use your phone (or fiddle with your camera, as Lucy discovered). David the landlord took the pub over from his father and now his son Rob is a joint licensee – ladies, forget the beer, if there was such a thing as a ‘Good-Looking Landlord Guide’, these two would certainly feature!
