End of the Pheasant Shooting Season

Wednesday, February 06th, 2008

Feb 1st marked the end of the pheasant shooting season but we did manage to get in some beating towards the end at our Keeper’s Shoot at home on the 30th January.

Most of the shooting season was taken up by our Muddy Marathon, so we didn’t manage to do much ourselves this year but those of you following our Marathon blog will probably remember our hi-vis beating on a family shoot in Essex:

On returning home in December, Lucy was quite chuffed to shoot her first pheasant.

Taking her first brace home to cook for friends, she followed the recipe that game chef Mark Gilchrist showed us when we met up with him in October.  Click here to see the recipe.  If you’ve never skinned a pheasant before, the Shooting Times’ step-by-step guide is quite handy:

‘Till next season!
