Welly Speed Dating Success
Monday, October 13th, 2008
We had a great time in Wolvey on Saturday running our Welly Speed Dating night to raise money for the RABI. The evening was our little contribution to mark the start of their new fundraising initiative, Welly Week, which is taking place from Saturday 11th – Saturday 18th October.
People were asked to organise an event or take part in an activity involving wellies in order to help
raise money for the purchase of special items for those in need (such as stairlifts and electrically-powered vehicles) and to raise the profile of RABI and the work that they do. We loved the concept and thought it would be a great idea to organise a fun social event for muddies at the same time.
We were there on the night in our Muddy Matches red boots and everyone else was asked to follow suit and come in their favourite pair of wellies.
Overall, the event was an amazing success. Not only did we raise £400 for the RABI but everyone seemed to get on amazingly well and have a lot of fun. Emma spent Sunday sifting through the results working out who liked who so she could put them in touch with each other and we are pleased to announce that there was a lot of mutual ‘dating’ and ‘friendship’ ticking going on! In many ways, however, we were beaten to it as a big gang went on to a nearby pub afterwards and, by all accounts, a number of – err – ‘friendships’ were developing quite nicely there…don’t we just love a bit of gossip!
Thanks to everyone who came along to support us and please get in
touch if romance blossoms as a result. We recently had an email
from a couple who met at one of our first speed dating evenings in April
to say that they have been inseparable ever since and are now moving in
together so who knows what will happen after this event?
See you at the next one!
