It’s a vastly different dating landscape, but a new study of online dating behaviour in the US has revealed that 30% of adults have dipped their toe into online dating – and it’s not just the big branded dating services that are drawing attention.
Three in ten online dating users shared that they have tried smaller, niche online dating platforms outside of the eight major brands mentioned in the survey.
The Muddy Matches team know there is a fair amount of interest that comes our way from American singles, living the rural lifestyle. Near 20,000 country singles from the US land on the Muddy Matches website each year, with a view to online dating with us.
During the global pandemic, the volume of web enquiries coming from the State into the Muddy Matches team in rural Northamptonshire leapt by 45% as singles went global for like-minded companionships.
Muddy Matches is predominantly a farmer dating website for UK and Ireland rural singles, but it still doesn’t stop 1 in 10 Northern American web visitors attempting to register annually with a view to matching, and dating British country singles and farmers.
Where there is obvious ties back to the UK, and clear reference in their profile bio to their intentions and long term goals, our customer care team will oft welcome them to date with us after review. After all, the romantic lure of the great British countryside has been wooing people the world over for centuries.
Interestingly, the American study also suggests that appetite for online dating in older age groups are below the level we typically see on Muddy Matches in the UK.
Here, we attract a high percentage of 40+ singles, with a particularly high percentage of divorcees and separated singles taking steps back into the dating scene with us. The traditional form of slow dating we offer provides comfort and reassurance.
The survey was conducted in mid 2022, by the Pew Research Center.
