The day Muddy Matches caught the eye of King Charles III

As we all well know, King Charles III is no stranger to the rural life and he is a stoic supporter of British farming in all its muddy glory.

So, on the day he is crowned King with all the pomp and ceremony of his Coronation that goes with it, the Muddy Matches team recall the time we caught his eye whilst at the Royal Show in July 2008.

Back then he was just a mere Prince, but we were rather excited to find out that he and The Duchess of Cornwall were heading over to look at the artisan food stalls at the show.

Surrounded by photographers (and ever the opportunists), we decided to try and get close to the action to see if we could slip our logo in somewhere behind the scenes.

As he made his way past all the stalls we took a couple of photographs, and suddenly he turned to look at us, and started walking over!

Spotted! He came straight across to us and asked what our red Muddy Matches shirts were all about. So – despite being somewhat starstruck in royal awe – we enjoyed a brief chat with him all about Muddy Matches and how farmer dating was going.

He wished us the very best of luck. 15 years on, we continue to thrive as the original home of countryside dating, and he became king!
