10 Annoying Things that Couples Do
Monday, February 18th, 2013
Here at Muddy Matches, we love receiving success stories from happy couples who met on the site, but Valentine’s Day has got us thinking about how annoying some loved-up couples can be. Here are our top ten annoying things that couples do:
- Talk about how perfect things are – When you’re really happy, it’s very tempting to shout it from the treetops. However, there are only so many times people want to hear “he’s so wonderful” or “she’s just the best”.
- Snog in public – There’s nothing wrong with a quick peck on the lips in public, but when your newly coupled-up friends start full on snogging in front of you at dinner time it’s just not on.
- Ditch their friends – Some friends suddenly become MIA when they meet someone new. You either get a “the missus won’t let me” or a more honest “we want to spend the evening as a couple”.
- Always assume it’s a +1 – So you’ve invited your friend round for a girl’s night/ boy’s night and they automatically bring their partner along. Sometimes it’s essential to make it clear that it isn’t a plus one event.
- Argue – There’s only one thing more annoying than playing piggy-in-the-middle when a couple are having an argument; being asked for your opinion on their argument.
- Speak for one another – It’s really irritating when one half of a couple takes it upon themselves to be the spokesman for the couple.
- Talk in a baby voice – Talking to babies in a baby voice is bad enough, but when couples do it, it’s just sickening.
- Playing matchmaker – We’re delighted when happy couples who met on Muddy Matches recommend us to their single friends. However, when you’re single it’s exhausting when your coupled up friends insist on setting you up with a friend of a friend with whom you have nothing in common with.
- We…we… – “We think that…”, “we like…”. Where your friend once had independent thoughts, they have now been replaced by joint thoughts that have to be agreed upon as a couple.
- Only socialise with other couples – Another bizarre occurrence with some couples is when they suddenly start to socialise with other couples and start heading out on double dates.
There is no denying that falling in love and pairing up with someone is a great feeling and, if you’re hoping to meet single country lovers who share your love of the outdoors, then you are in the right place…but when you do meet someone, remember these couple faux-pas and try not to be too annoying!!!
