Countryside Date Ideas For The Festive Season
Tuesday, November 26th, 2019
Now that the air is getting crisper, glittering decorations are popping up everywhere and Christmas is on the horizon, here at Muddy Matches our thoughts are turning to fun, outdoorsy dates that you can go on with your countryside love this November and December. If you want to escape the Christmas crowds and get back to nature, then read on for our favourite festive dates to plan with your muddy match.
1. Pick your own Christmas Tree and make your own decorations
Feeling like you’ve lost the magic of Christmas? Heading out in to the countryside to pick and cut your own Christmas tree can be a great way to recapture the festive spirit, and is a great way to learn more about your date as you peruse the forests of trees together. Back home, embrace the Christmas in an eco-friendly way by making your own decorations. That’s right, craft, together, on a date. But what could be better, and more romantic, than decorating your tree with baubles and garlands that you’ve made yourself.
2. Day time ice skating
If you’re like us, Christmas crowds don’t really appeal. So, if you can, why not make your Christmas date a day-time affair? Head in to you local town to try out its winter ice-rink, people and children free, and get active together as you try to do your best to impress your country lover on the ice.
3. Bouldering
Why not try something totally different on your date? Bouldering is fun, safe and a great way to learn something new together, or introduce your date to your passion for climbing in an easy and accessible way. It’s active, it’s challenging and you’ll get a great work-out, not to mention all the laughs along the way.
4. Winter walk on the beach to see the seal pups
Nature really is wonderful, and at this time of year we’re lucky to be home to thousands of seals as they pup on our beaches. Seeing something so natural close-up is an unforgettable experience and will give you so many lovely memories together as you start your love in the countryside journey. Take a look here for the best beaches to visit.
5. Day camp
If you really do love getting back to nature, and the freezing temperatures don’t put you off, then get prepared for a day camp. Pack your tent, camping stove, warm clothes and sturdy boots, then pick up some ingredients on the way to make it a day to remember. You’ll get a rush of endorphins from time in the fresh air, and being so close to nature, just the two of you, is super romantic.
6. Carol concert + Christmas lights switch on
For a magical start to Christmas, find your local Christmas light switch on and carol concert and rediscover the magic of Christmas together. Cosy, romantic and a lovely way to get involved in your rural community together.
7. Outdoor photo shoot
If photography is a passion of yours, then why not invite your country-loving date out for a country photo shoot. Not of the two of you, oh no, but of nature in its wintry beauty. Grab your cameras, get out there then warm up after with a festive hot chocolate.
8. Brewery tour + seasonal beers
Combine your date with a spot of Christmas shopping at your local brewery. Book a tour to learn all about the craft of beer-making then taste a sample or two and choose your favourites for your family and friends.
