Muddy Matches – Getting Started

If you are new to online dating the whole thing can be a little confusing, so we’ve created a guide to getting started.

Signing up

Joining Muddy Matches is completely free and can be done by clicking on our ‘Join for FREE’ link. You will then need to fill in some basic information.

Confirming your account

Once you’ve joined for free you will be sent an automated email with a link on it that you will need to click on to confirm your account. Sometimes this can sneak into your junk mail or spam folder, so keep an eye out for it.

Creating a profile

To create your profile, go to ‘My Profile’ and fill in the details using the prompts on the screen as guidance. You’ll also find some handy pointers in this blog post.

You can save your profile as you go along. When you are happy with it, press ‘send for approval’ and your text will be sent through to our customer care team.

Uploading photos

To upload photos, click on ‘My Photos’ and then on ‘Upload Your Main Photo’. You will then need to select a clear photo of your head and shoulders that is at least 320×480 pixels and is in JPEG format. This website is great for resizing your photos and for changing to JPEG format. Alternatively you can use a photo editing programme such as Microsoft Office Picture Manager to edit them.

You can then add a selection of additional photos that tell people more about you, for example you may wish to add a of photo of you indulging in your favourite hobby, a full length photo and a holiday photo.

Searching for matches

You can carry out a basic search on the homepage or by clicking on ‘search’ at the top of the screen you can carry out a more advanced search. When you have carried out a search you will have the option of saving your search so that you can carry out the same search in the future by selecting ‘save’ within the blue box on the right hand side.

Paying for a subscription

Although it’s free to join Muddy Matches and it is also free to carry out unlimited searches on the site, you will need to become a paid subscriber to send and receive messages.

Standard subscription prices range from £22 for one month, through to £88 for a year. We also offer a premium subscription, which allows free members to read and reply to your messages.

To subscribe online go to ‘Subscriptions’ and you will be taken through the secure payment process. Alternatively, you can pay by cheque or by postal order by sending your payment to our address along with your membership details. Finally, you may wish to pay over the phone by giving us a call.
