What To Do When You Start Dating Someone

Can I go on first dates with two different people in one week? We’ve met a couple of times, are we an item now? Should I remove my profile from the site?
The early days of dating can be a bit of an etiquette nightmare – trying to decide if you can meet up with more than one person and trying to work out whether you’re officially a couple or not. After all, when you’re a grown-up you can’t really say “will you be my boyfriend/girlfriend?” without sounding cheesy.
So let’s tackle the questions one at a time…
Can I go on first dates with two different people in one week?
You might be expecting this answer, but it’s completely down to the individual. Some people find it awkward knowing that they have dates lined up with more than one person, while others are happy to go on one date with someone before deciding not to date other people.
If you are in contact with more than one person, one option is to be honest with them and say that you’re messaging other people as well.
We’ve met a couple of times, are we an item now?
Again this is down to the individual – do you feel like you’re part of a couple? If you have been on a few dates and are regularly in contact with each other, it would be fair to think that you are part of a new couple. Sometimes it can take a while to get to see how you feel about someone, so it’s not as simple as going on a couple of dates and deciding that you must be a couple.
Should I remove my profile from the site?
When you have just started to go out, we wouldn’t recommend that should you remove your profile from the site as, for whatever reason, it may not work out. If you were to break up you would have to re-write your profile and upload your photos again. You would also lose all of your messages from other people.
The best option in the early stages of a relationship is to hide your profile. This means that your profile isn’t visible on the site and you can’t send or receive messages, but you can re-activate your account at a later date if the need arises.
