How Much Makeup is too Much on a First Date?
Tuesday, March 10th, 2015
When you think of the countryside, you may have images of natural, ruddy-cheeked people with farmer’s tans. However, when it comes to going on a first date, statistics show that 91% of women would rather cancel a date than go bare faced.
So we decided to put this theory to the test and asked our social media followers how much make-up they thought was acceptable to wear on a first date.
We put the image of MM’s Heather in three photos (below) on to Facebook and Twitter. Photo A shows Heather wearing just mascara; photo B shows Heather also wearing a natural looking foundation, a pink blusher and pink lipstick; photo C shows Heather with fake tan, heavy blusher, red lipstick and dark eyeshadow.
The most popular option was look B, which was chosen by 53% of people. However, there was a clear gender divide in the responses, with 80% of men favouring photo A.
So, ladies, next time you’re worried about applying exactly the right amount of blusher and lipstick, just remember that lots of ‘muddy’ men actually like the (nearly bare-faced look.
