Whether you want to look good in your dating profile photos, or on your first date, here are some tips to make sure that you are making the most of your looks.

How to look good in your photos

Smile – Smiling in your photo makes you look friendly and approachable.

Get the lighting right – We receive a lot of dark photos, which have either been taken in a dark room, or against a bright light. You may think that it makes you look mysterious, but it just makes people think that you are hiding something. Try to use photographs which were taken in a well-lit room, or in natural daylight.

Be seen – Another way that people hide is to use a photo where they are a tiny dot in the distance. Your Main Photo should be a good, clear, close up of your head and shoulders and your additional photos shouldn’t be a case of hide and seek.

How to look good on your first date

Be clean – Muddy Matches is a website for ‘muddy’ people, but that doesn’t mean that you should turn up on your date covered in mud, pet hair or horse muck. Shower, clean under your nails, wear clean clothes and brush yourself down if your furry friend says goodbye to you.

Do your hair – You don’t need to spend a fortune on a haircut or blow-dry, just styling your hair nicely shows that you have made an effort.

Wear something that makes you feel special – You don’t need to buy a whole new outfit before your date, but you should wear something that makes you feel special – whether that’s your best tweed jacket, or a sparkly pair of earrings.

Show a little skin – A little skin on show is attractive, but don’t wear something too revealing on a first date. Men – this applies to you too, low cut tops and tight trousers are a first date no no.

Don’t overdo it with makeup – If you’re a lady, don’t pile on the makeup. A little makeup can make you feel more confident, but too much can lead your date to wonder if they will get coated in blusher and lipstick if they go in for a kiss.

Stubble trouble – If you normally shave, make sure that you are freshly shaved before your date. If you go for stubble, or a beard, make sure that it is neat and tidy.
