The aim of online dating is to meet someone special, so we have some tips for helping you to succeed.

Write a unique profile

If people are looking through hundreds of dating profiles, they will soon start to skim through all the sentences that say “I like going out and staying in”, “I’m not sure what to say”, or “This is my first time doing this”.

To make yourself stand out from the crowd, try to be more specific about what you enjoy doing, no matter how unusual your favourite things are. Also, it can help you to attract attention if you tell a fun story about yourself, or if you write your profile in a unique style.

Keep your profile up-to-date

A stand-out profile is all well and good as long as you keep it up-to-date. Every few months, take a look through it and take out anything that seems out-of-date. For example, it’s time to remove any references that you have made to Christmas, or the new year.

Post your best pictures

Choose a Main Photo that clearly shows what your face looks like and a good selection of Additional Photos that show people what your figure is like and what you enjoy doing.

Make sure that all of your photos are taken within the past few years, so that people do not feel that you have deceived them when you come to meet in person.

If you aren’t sure about which pictures to choose, ask some of your friends to help who are the same gender as the people you are trying to appeal to.

Send a message

You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who join a dating website and sit about being disappointed because nobody has got in touch with them, in spite of having never contacted anyone either.

If everyone sat back and waited to be contacted, then nobody would ever make the first move.

If you like someone, take a look at their profile and send them a message talking to them about something that you have in common.

Keep you message short and try to add a question that will help them to make the next move.
