Communication after a Date
Sunday, December 10th, 2017
Reaching the first date stage shows that all your hard work crafting the perfect dating profile, choosing a great selection of photos and wowing them with your messages has paid off. So what should you do now your first date is over?
If you fancy meeting them again
If you really enjoyed the date, take the time to send a nice message saying that you had a good time and it would be good to meet up again sometime soon.
This will reassure your date, who may be wondering what you thought about them and it will show that you are keen to see them again.
If they don’t feel the same way about you, at least it will prompt them to let you know.
If they liked you, but you weren’t keen
If you didn’t enjoy your date, it is polite to get in contact with your date to tell them that you would not be interested in meeting up with them again. Don’t be tempted to ignore them as it won’t make the situation go away.
What to do about communicating with other people
It is normal to have conversations with more than one person at a time when you are on an online dating website. If you have already arranged to go on a date with someone else, you should honour the date even if your recent date went well.
It is also OK to keep talking to other people if you are not ‘exclusive’ with someone.
Should I delete my dating profile?
If your date went really well, it might be tempting to delete your dating profile straight away to show that you aren’t interested in meeting anyone else. However, if your date changes their mind about meeting up again you will have to re-write your profile. You can choose to hide your profile so that nobody else can see it, but it will allow you to go back to it and make it live again at a later date if you choose to do so.
