10 Photo Dos and Don’ts
Saturday, April 14th, 2018
Your photos are an important part of your online dating profile as they will show people what you really look like and will back up what you have said in your profile text.
Do choose a clear Main Photo
You Main Photo is the first thing that people will see when they look at your dating profile, so make sure that it shows your face clearly and that it is a good representation of you. If you’re not sure what to go for, aim for a passport style photograph, but with a smile.
Don’t use a filter on your Main Photo
With the popularity of Instagram and Snapchat, we’re seeing more filtered photographs than ever before. A soft focus filter might be flattering, but it won’t show you for who you really are.
Do ask a friend to take your picture
Taking a selfie is easy to do, but won’t be as nice as a photo taken by someone else. So, ask a friend to help out.
Don’t take a bathroom selfie
If you do choose to take a selfie using a mirror, try not to take it in the bathroom (especially in a public toilet) as nobody wants to be reminded of the toilet when they are looking at your photos.
Do include lots of additional photos
Your additional photos tell people more about who you are and what you enjoy doing. You can include group photos, landscapes and photos of you enjoying your favourite hobbies.
Do try swapping over your Main Photo
If you aren’t having much success online, you could try swapping your Main Photo for a different image so that potential dates can see a different side of you. For example, if you are using a photo where you can only see one side of your face, try using a photo that is face on to the camera.
Don’t use old photos
Try to use photos that have been taken within the past few years so that they give an accurate representation of what you really look like now.
Do use a full length photo
Adding a full-length photograph to your additional photos will show people what your figure is like.
Don’t use topless selfies
Topless selfies might be the best way to show off your six-pack, but that should come later down the line when you are ready, not for everyone to see.
Don’t use bed shots
Bed shots just look tacky and can give the impression that you are lazy.
