Spring Dates
Sunday, February 24th, 2019
With the fantastic weather that we have been having this week, you would be forgiven for thinking that spring has already begun, however it officially begins on Friday. Here are some outdoor date ideas to help you to make the most of the warm spring weather with your muddy match.
Get together for a snowdrop walk
Snowdrop season runs from January through to March and lots of gardens and woodlands across the UK and ROI run snowdrop themed weekend events to show people the glorious carpets of white flowers. Joining a group tour can reduce the pressure of meeting up one-on-one and you can then go for a cup of tea afterwards to get to know each other better. Take a look at ‘Gardens to Visit‘, which included a list of British and Irish gardens where you can see snowdrops.
Head out for a coastal walk
In the UK you are never more than 70 miles away from our stunning coastline and it is a great place to take your date if you both love getting out in the fresh air to traverse a coastal path. However, we wouldn’t recommend heading out to a remote footpath on your first date—a pub, or cafe would be a better idea until you feel comfortable with one another. The Telegraph has put together a list of coastal walks, of you need some inspiration.
Hire a bike
Hiring bikes in your local park, or nature reserve will give you the chance to burn some calories whilst getting to know one another. You could even try a tandem if you want to try a trust building exercise. Riding a tandem will make it easier to chat as you will be able to stay close to one another, but you will attract a few shouts of “s/he’s not pedalling at the back”.
Go for an adrenaline-filled trip to a theme park
Most of the big theme parks open for the new season in March. They might not be everyone’s cup-of-tea and can be pricey, but if you enjoy rides then they are a fun way to bond with your new date. Themeparks.uk has a list of large and small theme parks in the UK, while Ireland Before You Die provides a list of theme parks in the ROI.
