Last Minute Valentine’s Day Gifts
Thursday, February 13th, 2020
Valentine’s Day is here and, if it’s crept up on to you just like it has us, you may be in need of a bit of inspiration for your Valentine’s Day gift. Show your Muddy Match that you care with one of these gorgeous, and easy to source or make, gifts for 14 February.
1. A homemade card
Let your artistic side shine and make a homemade card. It’s the thought that counts so, even if you’re not super-artistic, you can get creative and make a card that says exactly what you want it to.
2. Home-cooked candlelit dinner
Rustle up a warming supper in the kitchen and you’ll be in your countryside match’s good books. For an easy, fool-proof supper knock together a hearty soup, then how about a one pot casserole or To finish, an affogato is a sure-fire way to impress. Pop a scoop of good quality vanilla icecream in a dish, pour over a hot shot of espresso and finish with a dash of your favourite liqueur.
3. A farm shop hamper
Farm shops are a treasure trove of gorgeous countryside produce; fresh bread, seasonal fruit and vegetables, luscious home-made jams, local cheeses and speciality gins. Show someone you care by selecting a few of their favourite items and packing them up in a hamper or box. If you’re lucky, they may even share it with you.
4. Warm socks
Ok, so maybe not the romantic present that you think they are, but warm, thick socks are a truly thoughtful present for any outdoorsy type. Snuggly toes, whatever the weather and, every time your countryside date pulls them on, they’ll think of you.
5. Deliver a picnic to their work
Surprise are super romantic so, if you’re lucky enough to live or work close to where your country match is based, then a lunchtime picnic is a wonderful way to celebrate. Pack a picnic (or make up a hamper from your local farm shop) and turn up just before their lunch break to whisk them away. Don’t forget warm clothes and a blanket if you’re eating outside, but cuddling up in the car is just as fun.
6. A hand-planted pot plant or herb pots
Whilst roses and flowers fade and die, a hand-planted pot plant will live on, giving your rural match a reminder of you for months to come. If they love to cook then pot up some herbs in attractive pots, or for a more decorative and fragranced gift find their favourite rose plant, jasmine or hyacinth and wrap it up with a ribbon.
7. That book they’ve been mentioning
We all do it; find a book we keep meaning to buy and read and never actually get around to it. So, seize the day, head to the bookshop and buy it for them. It shows you’ve been listening well and will be a much appreciated gift. Don’t forget to include a hand-written note in the front.
8. Tickets to a show, concert or film
At Muddy Matches we love creating romantic experiences so why not give a gift that you can enjoy together? Do your research then buy tickets to that show they want to see, the latest film or a local band. You’ll make memories, get a closer connection and have fun!
9. Homemade treats
The gift of time is worth far more than anything money can buy. Get your bake on and whip up a batch of cupcakes in their favourite flavour, or some heart-shaped shortbread, then present your bakes with a flourish. You’ll be their Star Baker, for sure.
