Why ‘Let’s talk cows’ is the muddy version of ‘I love you’

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, loved up couples the world over will be sharing those three little words that everyone find great comfort and reassurance; ‘I love you‘.
People put lots of importance on those 9 letters and how much weight they carry; and on Valentine’s Day, they seem to gain extra significance.
Yet, we recently read in a survey that only 2 in every 10 woman would take the lead and say, I love you first in a relationship – and of those 70% of those did so with expectation that it would be reciprocated.
However, in our 15 years as the UK’s original online home of rural dating and farmer love, we know there are plenty of alternative three-word phrases that mud lovers value just as much.
None of which carry such level of expectation.
We spoke to some genuine British country couples, who met whilst online dating on Muddy Matches, for their words of wisdom when it came to being knee deep in love.
Here are our favourite, alternative three little words that rural singles, with their heart in agricultural life, appreciate as much as I love you:
1. “Grab Your Wellies”
2. “Shut the Gate!”
3. “Careful, Electric Fence.”
4. “Have a lay-in”
5. “Let’s talk cows”
6. “Yard clean, Done.”
7. “You’re TB free”
8. “Roast Dinner’s served.”
9. “Weather looks decent.”
10. “Need more chickens?”
We think all of these capture rural romance and love in the countryside perfectly.
