Festive drinks fit for a first date Christmas coffee
Monday, November 27th, 2023
Adventure date and countryside walks may all try take its crown, but ‘popping out for a coffee’ remains the nation’s favourite first date invitation, such is its ease and convenience.
Now, with independent coffee shops, and high street chain alike bringing out festive drinks on their menu, there’s never been a better time for a good hearty ‘getting to know you session’ with your match whilst the coffee beans brew.
In this dating advice post, the Muddy Matches team look at the new festive drinks that baristas are whipping up, and we are picking out our seasonal favourites fit for a first date.
After Eight Mint Hot Chocolate
Minty, rich and with a slight twist of dark chocolate notes, Costa’s classic After Eight Mint Hot Chocolate, topped with skinny whip and dark chocolate shavings is just joy in a glass.
It doesn’t even need marshmallows to top it off, and that’s saying something.
Caramel Waffle Latte
Strong Espresso combined with caramel waffle sauce and steamed milk is a match made in heaven. Finish it with whipped cream and a cinnamon spiced caramel waffle crunch topping that throws back authentic Christmas market vibes. Yes please, Starbucks. Yes please.
Coconut Florentine Mocha
Café Nero’s signature Italian blend expresso and steamed coconut milk matched with rich chocolate, salted caramel, and simply gorgeous festive panettone syrup which simply screams Boxing Day. Add on a more than generous topping of whipped cream and chocolate chips. Bellissimo.
.Sticky Toffee Skinny Latte
Last year’s craze was anything Toffee Nut flavoured. This year, we think Sticky Toffee is king. This festive latte, layered with sticky toffee flavoured sauce, drizzled with sticky toffee sauce, even comes with a sprinkling of bronze shimmer dust. It’s a comfort pud in a glass.
Black Forest & Cream Hot Chocolate
Keeping up the classic dessert thing. Rich hot chocolate with cherry sauce swirled through it, and over it. The cream gives off strong 80s vibes. We await the trifle latte!
Gingerbread Latte
Let’s face it we’d have a Gingerbread syrup in just about anything, and why even wait to Christmas. But the Gingerbread Latte is a old timer now on the menu, but it as popular as ever. We like a light dusting of cinnamon on ours, plus one of those super cute, mini gingerbread figure biscuits to dunk in. Head first? Yes, please.
Terrys Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate
Remember the Quality Street festive drinks from a few years back? Oh, how we miss the toffee penny latte and Big Purple One. So we are pleased to see there’s a Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate still doing the Christmassy rounds. It’s zesty and a really nice balance. And it’s not Terrys’… well you know the rest.
Season Spiced Hot Apple
Steering clear of froth and cream? Well coffee shops do a welcome range of spiced teas that each still bring the warming, festive fun. The season spiced hot apple drink is just delicious. It’s a christmas market in a mug and has strong mulled cider vibes going on, without the alcohol.
