LGBTQ Dating in the Countryside
Tuesday, August 21st, 2018
According to the Office of National Statistics, just two percent of people identified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) in 2016. Statistics for the number of transgender people are hard to come by and are notoriously inaccurate, but estimates by the Home Office suggest that between 300,000 and 500,000 people are transgender.
The Office of National Statistics figures suggest that LGB figures are higher within city populations, particularly in Brighton and Hove (4.8%), Manchester (3.2), London (2.7%), Cardiff (2.5%) and Bristol (2.1%). In more rural areas, like North Yorkshire (0.4%), fewer people identified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual than in cities. This means that it is harder to meet a potential partner if you are LGBTQ and living in the countryside.
Looking for LGBT matches on Muddy Matches
Dating apps such as Grindr are popular options for meeting people, but as your gender and sexual preferences are just part of your identity you may wish to join a dating website that fits in with your lifestyle and interests.
On Muddy Matches, we have a wide range of members, who are pretty representative of the UK and Ireland as a whole. You can meet with people who live in the countryside, work in a rural setting, or just enjoy spending time in the countryside. People are often surprised to hear that a large number of our members live in the city, but are still country-minded. This is often because they have grown up in the countryside, but have chosen to move to a busy city for work, family, or social reasons.
Using Muddy Matches, you can tailor your searches by the gender that you are looking to date. If you are transgender, we advise that you select the gender that you identify as when you are looking for matches.
To increase your chances of meeting someone special, we would encourage you to select a wide area so that you have a large number of matches. If you find a great match who is a long way away from where you live, you could arrange to meet half-way, or could arrange a Skype date to see how well you connect with one another.
