Homely Date Ideas
Saturday, September 08th, 2018
“I like going out, or staying in” is one of the most popular phrases on online dating websites, so we’ve put together some date ideas for when you’d rather stay at home than head out for the evening.
Before we start, please remember that it is best practice to meet in a busy public place on your first date. However, when you get to know each other a bit better, you can enjoy a night in together without worrying about your personal safety.
Box set night
Whether you prefer a real DVD box set, or a streaming service; watching a box set is a great way to relax together. You will also be creating a shared experience that will provide a great source of conversation for future dates and there’s the commitment value of getting together to watch the rest of the series.
Snuggle up on the sofa with your favourite drink and some easy (and preferably quiet) snacks.
Cook some posh nosh
Inviting your date over for dinner is a great way to show off your culinary skills (even if you have a repertoire of just two dishes). To make the experience extra special, you could opt for a candle-lit three-course meal with your best cutlery, crockery and table cloth.
If you are not a very confident cook, there are some great ready-made options available, such as a pie from your local butcher, or a premium range ready-meal from your local supermarket.
Have a gaming night
Playing computer/video games is one of the most popular hobbies in the UK and ROI, even for people who otherwise tend to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. You could opt to play against each other to enjoy a bit of healthy rivalry, or join together as a team to experience a sense of bonding.
Playing board games, or card games is also a fun way to spend time at home together if you don’t fancy playing computer games.
