Avoid these Instant Turn-offs
Sunday, September 09th, 2018
Online dating websites allow you to show thousands of people what a great person you actually are, but you can also run the risk of putting people off with a few simple mistakes. Here are some things that will scare people away from you.
Not making an effort
A blurry photo and one short sentence about yourself makes you look lazy and like you can’t be bothered to put the effort into meeting someone. If you are serious about finding someone special, you should put the effort into drafting your profile text and choosing a selection of photos.
Being sleazy
The quickest way to turn someone off is to send them a sleazy message, like “nice tits”, or “I’d love to see you naked” (both surprisingly common comments on some dating apps). It might be the truth, but it isn’t the nicest thing to say in a first message and it makes you look like a sex pest.
On other dating websites you might even be troubled by ‘dick pics’, but at Muddy Matches we don’t allow people to send photos via the messaging service to prevent this from happening. This doesn’t mean that you should ask for someone’s phone number to allow you to send a ‘dick pic’, as we’ve never met anyone who thinks that seeing one is attractive. It’s more likely that the recipient will laugh at it and show it to their friends!
Getting stinking drunk on your first date
Having a drink, or two on a first date can help to calm you down. However, drinking to the point of being drunk will make you look like a liability who can’t have fun without be intoxicated.
Not taking ‘no’ for an answer
Sadly, it’s a fact of life that you will experience rejection as well as success on online dating websites. If you do hear a ‘no’ from someone, take that as their final answer and don’t try to bombard them with messages to force them to change their mind.
