10 Active Date Ideas

If you are looking for something physical to do on your date, instead of heading out for a drink together, here are 10 active date ideas to get you started.
Mud runs – Muddy obstacle runs have been very popular over the years as they test your strength and speed, while trudging through some good, old-fashioned mud. If you are partial to such activities and you have found a date who is too, you could agree to meet at one the events.
Helping each other to climb over and under the obstacles will provide a bonding experience and you’re definitely in a busy public place.
Clay pigeon shooting – If you’re a fan of countryside pursuits, then clay-pigeon shooting is a great way to enjoy your hobby and get to know more about your date (include whether, or not they have a competitive side).
Walking the dog – Sometimes walking your handsome hound can feel like a bit of a chore, but by getting your date to join you, you will soon be as enthusiastic about the whole experience as your dog is.
High ropes course – If you have a head for heights and are able to clamber through the trees like a squirrel, then a high ropes course might just be the ideal first date for you.
Hill climbing – Join a popular hill trail (so that you’re in a safe environment) and work your way to the top with a few words of encouragement from your new companion. If you live in a relatively flat area (like the Muddy Matches team) it will only take a couple of hours to climb one, but a more vertiginous region will offer you more time to get to know your date.
Golf – From indoor mini-golf to a full 18-hole course, there are a lot of choices for people who would like to have some fun on a golf themed date. Just make sure not to wear the full outfit if you are meeting for mini-golf and don’t turn up in jeans if you are meeting on a formal course.
Trampolining –Trampolining is no longer just for children and gymnasts, there are now more and more trampolining centres popping up (or should that be jumping up?) across the UK and Ireland. Just make sure to pick an adult’s only session, or a quiet time, so you don’t accidentally squash a child.
Dance class – If all the Strictly Come Dancing romances are anything to go by, then dancing is really the best way to woo someone. Try a dance class for your first date and learn a new skill together.
Climbing wall – Like golf, a climbing date can be held indoors, or outdoors depending on your preferences and is a great way to burn some nervous energy on a first date.
Paint-balling – Paint-balling is perhaps a risky option for a first date, especially if your date bruises easily, but it is a fun date idea for later down the line and an enjoyable way to introduce your friendship groups to one another.
