How To Dress To Impress
Saturday, July 13th, 2019
Stuck for what to wear on your date? Today’s Muddy Matches blog post is for all you men out there who need a little helping hand in the fashion stakes when you’re looking to impress. There’s a fine line between being overdressed (i.e. looking as if you’ve come straight from the yard) and making *too* much of an effort (so the tux wasn’t a good idea…), so we’ll be looking at some common first date scenarios and advising on how to dress for the occasion.
1. Drinks at the pub
The dress code for a relaxed evening in the pub is definitely casual, with a little edge to show you’ve made an effort for your date. In summer, a crisp shirt in cool blue paired with some smart-ish jeans or chinos along with a pair of lace-ups or espadrilles looks effortless but eye-catching. For more informal vibes, slip on your shirt over a crisp tee.
2. The dinner date
Meeting in town for a slap-up dinner? You’ll need to get out the iron. We advise a long-sleeved shirt worn open at the neck with a pair of smart trousers (or dark jeans), brogues or boots and a blazer, if you have one.
3. Walk in the countryside
You’ll need to look the part for this one so don either your usual active gear (clean and odour-free, please!) or shrug on your shirt, jeans and a gilet or crew neck jumper.
4. Don’t forget the accessories!
Hat, sunglasses, watch… your choice of accessories all add up to make that all-important first-impression. Choose with care but be true to who you are, and you can’t go wrong.
