Socially Distanced Gifting For Your Muddy Match
Monday, June 01st, 2020
Over the past ten weeks, many of us have really realised what’s important to us. From staying active and inspired by being in the countryside, to keeping up with loved ones, to getting back to basics and cooking from scratch, we all know what matters and what supports our wellbeing.
We’re sure that you are now well acquainted with staying in touch via video call, Zoom, Google chat, Facetime, Facebook video, Houseparty and all the other methods out there, but today we’re sharing something a little different with you. When life gets more challenging, making the effort to get creative to deepen your connections with your family, friends and your countryside connections can be really rewarding. And, taking time to do something really different, will let your Muddy Match that you really do care. Today, we’re sharing our favourite ways to get creative and show someone special what they mean to you.
Put together a care gift box
This is one for guys and gals. Collecting items for a care box, and sending it through the post or via courier, is a really, really personal way to let someone know you care. Have a good think about what they love to do in their spare time, their favourite food and drink (we have some wonderful Muddy Matches partner offers here to help you out) and the little treats that they love to indulge with, then select your items with care. Our favourite items are: tea or coffee, a sweet treat (chocolate or fudge are great), warm socks for cooler countryside nights, a book or CD that you know they’ll love, a hand-written note and a special bit of stationery.
Send a postcard
Especially if you’re in lockdown in different parts of the country, sending a postcard of where you live is a fun way to keep in touch. Write a personal message on the back, and don’t forget to say ‘Wish you were here!’.
Share your favourite recipes in a home-made recipe book
This is a wonderful idea if you’re planning on doing a virtual cooking date with your countryside match. Write out, or print, your favourite recipes – sweet or savoury – then pop it in the post. Once they’ve received it, you can cook up a storm together, over Zoom, Skype, Facetime, then sit down for a distanced dinner date.
Send a home-made music CD, or create a playlist
Music is a really special way in which you can connect, so get on your laptop and put together a CD of all of your favourite songs you’d love to share with your Muddy Match. If you don’t have a CD burner, put together a playlist on Spotify or Amazon Music, then send it over to your love.
Send seasonal countryside produce
Around the countryside, so many farm shops are now offering fresh fruit and veg boxes for delivery. For something a bit different from the ubiquitous bouquet of flowers, why not send a box of seasonal countryside produce? Beautiful and practical, we know they’ll love it.
Put together a date invitation
We’re all dreaming of the day when life returns to some kind of normality and we can all start to socialise and date like it’s 2019. Why not put together an invitation, complete with a schedule, for your perfect date day when you and your countryside match can be together again? Maybe you’ll be starting with a lazy brunch followed by a long, long countryside walk with the dogs, ending up with a drink or two in the local pub… whatever you love to do together, create your perfect date day and invite your rural match to take part.
