Farmer finally gets his wife after Christmas Day proposal
Monday, November 22nd, 2021
A farming couple, who saw their original summer wedding plans put on ice due to the pandemic, have tied the knot to become a Muddy Matched Mr & Mrs.
Lisa met livestock farmer Ken online whilst farmer dating with Muddy Matches in June 2016. After enjoying the buzz of a two- and half-year rural romance together, Ken popped the question on Christmas Day 2018, over hand reared turkey.
The engaged couple quickly set a date to get married in May 2020, with grand plans afoot for 100-day guests at a church service, and a further 200 invited for a marquee reception on Ken’s family farm in Thirsk.
Lisa moved south from Durham to join her fiancé in Yorkshire in March, then coronavirus struck, and everything went on hold.
30 May 2020 came and went.
“Fortunately, we have been able to move most of the arrangements one full year ahead to 29 May 2021” Lisa told us back in December 2020. With catering, church service, photography and entertainment all booked, there was lots of uncertainty along the way.
We are delighted to report that Lisa and Ken became husband and wife, in front of friends and family, at Borrowby Chapel near Ken’s hometown, in their summer wedding as hoped.
“There were no muddy touches, but it was a glorious day,” Lisa reports. “We were also able to have a party to celebrate us getting married 6 weeks later at the farm.”
Now the pair can look forward to making more memories together, and, as Lisa so lovingly puts it in true Muddy Matches style… “live happily ever after on the farm.”
From everyone at Muddy Matches, we are delighted that the farmer got his wife… finally.
