‘On and off’ Muddy matched couple set to wed, 6 years and 3 mutual matches, after their first online connection.
A muddy Welsh couple, who have mutually matched numerous times on Muddy Matches over the past six years, are set to wed with a massive life change planned.
Self titled ‘country bumpkin’ Dona first matched with Reece whilst online dating with us six years ago. For various reason and circumstance, their mutual connection wasn’t given the necessary time to bloom offline.
Roll forward a further two years, and after a profile refresh by both – including Reece’s admission that he was ready to ‘go wherever his mood would take him’ – , they mutually matched again.
Fate? No, not this time either as Dona left Reece on tenterhooks.
“At the time I was working offshire in windfarm installation” Dona says. “I worked away until last year. My longest stint working offshore was 78 days on the bounce and, as I was single I’d grab all the extra shifts as possible. I kept thinking “I travel for work, then I’d have to travel to meet a man. I thought the distance was too much .
“Looking back, Reece was only 50 minutes away. It was me being an absolute *** if I’m honest. Reece was exactly what I was looking for. and there was instant attraction.”
Dona tells us it’s a ‘running joke ‘in the house they thankfully now share, after finally getting together after yet another mutual match whilst rural dating in 2021.
“I messaged Reece again, and his reply was “I’ve tried with you before”. That was awkward but the rest is history now he’s asked me to be his wife.”
The pair, who got engaged in July 2022 whilst on holiday in Dubai, are set to marry in May 2024 at Tower Hill Barns in Llangollen, North Wales.
Separate houses too are being sold, and an offer is in on a smallholding in Oswestry.
“Life as an engaged couple is brilliant” she tells us. It marks a complete life overhaul for Dona, especially. She plans to swap the ‘male dominated’ offshoring lifestyle for one with chickens, ponies and a pig (if Reece will let her) and a job, working from home.
Oh, and there’s the small matter of planning a wedding!
