“We feel so blessed to have met on Muddy Matches”

Irish racehorse trainer Declan was immediately hot to trot for divorced mud lover Trudie when she appeared in his search results whilst countryside dating on Muddy Matches.

The country-minded singles had individually been online dating, on and off, with us for just under a year when they mutually matched in March 2022. A year on, and they are now engaged, with a date in 2024 set for the wedding.

Dublin-born Declan admitted his ‘heart sank’ when he first saw Trudie was 80 miles away in Kent, after being drawn to her online dating profile, and photos taken at the Jockey Club. Imagine his relief then when she confirmed that, not only was she a lot closer than her location suggested, but she was, in fact, just three miles ‘up the road’ from him in Cambridgeshire.

She also revealed that they had been ‘acquainted’ and had mutual friends, a few years ago.

Despite his reservations at first about the distance, it was Declan who first reached out. His was the first message Trudie had received on Muddy Matches. 48 hours later, and following chat of snowy dog walks and familiar faces, they took the plunge to pursue the connection offline.

The rest, they say, is history.
