Mud lovers plan a winter wedding after matching online

Horse owner Johanna, and her Agronomist, Muddy Match Andrew, are gushing with praise about their country life dating experience after unearthing each other on Muddy Matches.

The country couple met whilst online dating with us in October 2020; both hoping to ‘find someone to share our country lives with’ and whom they could indulge their joint love of the ten working dogs they have between them. There was a shared passion for adventure too.

Both craved a little slice of honesty, loyalty, and respect; a natural fit with the Muddy Matches dating values.

With NHS connections on Johanna’s side, they had both worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and wanted more in their lives, having both been separated previously.

“We were both excited joining Muddy Matches” Johanna, an 80% muddy, 40-something social care manager from East Sussex, tells us.  “When Andrew messaged me, I simply said ‘Hi’, but he had written a small essay!”.

The mud loving pair bonded quickly; and after chatting online, and exchanging messages for 6 weeks, arranged to meet for a dog walking date on Johanna’s birthday.

“Andrew was 1 hour early and produced 44 pink roses for me”, Johanna recalls. He’d taken note of the tiny details in their conversations and gifted her favourite flowers.

“Our 6 weeks of chatting had worked,” Johanna added. “We both felt at ease and just knew straight away that our relationship would flourish, even through the challenges of a lockdown and the pandemic. When we couldn’t go out during lockdown we chatted.  We walked dogs, had picnics in the car and we continued to grow from strength to strength.”

“Building our life together, we finally felt complete.”

Complete, but not official? That came in June 2022, when on a ‘dream holiday’ together in Santorini – a vacation postponed previously due to COVID – when Andrew popped the question and proposed.

“We are currently looking a venues and dates, but we are hoping for a winter wedding”, Johanna hints. “It will be full of love and happiness to share with our loved ones.”

Knowing the countryside connection, Johanna and Andrew have, you can be sure their ten dogs and the horses – their four-legged loved ones – will absolutely get an invite!
