Green fingered Scottish singleton finds his match 11,500 miles away in New Zealand… and it’s all thanks to Muddy Matches.

It may just be the longest long-distance relationship we have ever had a helping hand in inspiring, but 90% muddy singleton Karl has found his muddy match… 11,500 miles away from his rural, beachfront home in Southwest Scotland.

That’s right. 53-year-old horticulturalist Karl, who grew up in the Lake District, has been country life dating with Muddy Matches as a premium subscriber since July 2021. Almost a year on and he has now flown the online dating nest, having met his match in the form of New Zealander, Petrina.

The good news for Karl is that ‘forward thinking’ Petrina, who is very honest about her current location on the other side of the world, is full steam ahead in her plans to move to the UK ‘in the near future.’ She had signed up to Muddy Matches, on the recommendation of English friends, to ‘start my search for partner, who is a farmer’ and was open about her will to move to any area her heart wanted to take her.

Now, having talked on, and offline, for the best part of 3 months, since meeting in June 2022, Karl, and his wirehaired dashhound Hector, are intent on making a go of things with nature loving Petrina.

They both share a love, and appreciation of rural life, and whilst being thousands of miles apart, find common ground in their remote lifestyle and surroundings, with Petrina having grown up on a farm.

“I’m hoping, and fingers crossed, that I’ve found my match on here,” Karl tells us. “Never in a month of Sundays would I have ever thought that when I started my search with you that I would meet someone, of all places, 11,500 miles away, on the other side of the world.”
