Self confessed ‘boot snob’ falls knee deep in muddy love

Country couple, Russell and Ali set to wed six years after meeting online whilst rural dating with Muddy Matches.

We were delighted to hear from Sussex gent Russell this week, who was thrilled to let us know that he and his muddy match Ali will be getting married next year.

Russell, 60% muddy, and a separated fifty-something Scorpio, came into online dating with ‘no clear expectations’. He soon matched with Surrey singleton, Ali; this was back in August 2016.

For six years they have been the ideal country couple; living a proper lifestyle in muddy boots; fitting of how they met.

He’d opened his dating profile by asking prospective partners what make of boot they were choosing to pull on this year. He was looking for a ‘confident women who was comfortable in wellies.’ Maybe a country girl, crazy horse lady or farmers daughter!

And in Ali, he found her.

Contacting us with his story of online dating success via Facebook, Russell said “We are getting married on 23 September 2023, almost exactly seven years after our first date on 26 September 2016.

“We are getting married in a local church, before friends and family join us for a party at a local pub.”

The rural couple got engaged in March, earlier this year.

Russell made for an awesome rural single, with interests in fly-fishing shooting, beats, working dogs, horses and, of course, ladies that loved horses!

He admitted he’s ‘a boot snob’ with Aigle his go to choose at present ‘especially for beating and being outdoors’ with RM Williams Chelsea boots for those non shooting days.

As for Ali? “It depends on the company and activities,” Russell tells us. “Dubarry Galways for everyday or Le Chameau. Otherwise, it’s Fairfax and Favour.’
